Consciousness: Two Babies Talking in the Womb

In a mother’s womb were two babies.  The first baby asked the other:  “Do you believe in life after delivery?”

The second baby replied, “Why, of course. There has to be something after delivery.  Maybe we are here to prepare ourselves for what we will be later.”

“Nonsense,” said the first. “There is no life after delivery.  What would that life be?”
“I don’t know, but there will be more light than here.  Maybe we will walk with our legs and eat from our mouths.”

The doubting baby laughed. “This is absurd!  Walking is impossible.  And eat with our mouths?  Ridiculous.  The umbilical cord supplies nutrition.  Life after delivery is to be excluded.  The umbilical cord is too short.”

Our own conception of God

 
 Newcomers to Program are told that when we talk about
God, we mean "God as we understand God."
But there has always been a problem with this little formula. The problem is simply this: We don't understand God. And -- when we begin the daily practice of the last three Steps -- we come to see that we never will.
Interestingly, according to Bill's story in the AA Big Book, this was not the original expression used by Ebby, the man who brought sobriety to Bill himself. Instead, Ebby said to the doubting Bill, "Why don't you choose your own conception of God?"
Our own conception of God. That's what works for us in Program. Any conception of God will work -- as long as it is not our own will, our selfish nature, our ego.

A Power Greater Then Myself--share

I learned being around the rooms of A.A. for 4 years prior to coming back this time, that I had to find a power greater then myself in order to grow. I never got this when I first entered the rooms and as a result I was domed to repeat.

I thought I could find an easier way on my own, but as always my way got me drunk. Before entering the rooms this time I had what is know as a spiritual awaking.
