I started a Web Site in 1999 when I came back into the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous. Tripod decided to block me a few years ago , so I stopped writing, posting. SO I decided to take the posts I had there and put them here. Plus new ones I found on the net and shares of my own. Take what you need and pass on the rest! Blessings ds♥

Choosing Love and Life

There are plenty of times in life when we would rather not have to make decisions; the alternatives are too painful or the responsibilities too heavy. In such situations we may procrastinate or become very passive, but there is still choices that we make. To "decide not to decided" is still a decision. We might adopt rigid institutional values, adhere to frozen policies, or even join cults to avoid the responsibilities that come with making our own choices, but avoiding responsibility is also a choice. Freedom and responsibility are perfect boomerangs; they keep coming back to us no matter how or where we try to throw them away. The one thing we are never free to choose is choicelessness.

Gently but irrevocably, we are captured by freedom. It is useless to be concerned about whether to choose; the real questions are how and why we choose. Our identity is solidly rooted in our heart's desire for love--we are made to love--but our character emerges in the choices we make about that desire. Being in love is given to us with our very lives, but the pulse of our living, our real participation in creation is our choosing; choosing amoung our loves and choosing love itself. If we look closely, we can see that every choice we make is a love decision.

Prayer
God, give me the power to make loving and
life-giving choices based on my love for you.

Steps
3 Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.

11 Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.

It has been said that most of us are just about as happy as we have made up our minds to be, and I believe that this is very true. If you keep the thought firmly in your mind that ‘I love my life,’ it becomes increasingly difficult to be negative or pessimistic- even when things don’t go the way you wanted. It can also become much easier to focus on the positive aspect of any situation when you have a generally optimistic outlook on life.

~~
For me I lived many years making a choice to be unhappy. I didn't know how to make that choice to be free of it. I didn't understand Gods love and that by just making an honest heart felt choice to change for the better, that to find true love was an inside job.
I lived so many years inside a bottle, looking for that happiness, that love.
I thought I didn't know how to make a decision, but I found in recovery that I did, I made all the wrong decisions. I had the choice to surrender to the bottle and to make a decision to let God in my life in 1987 when I went to rehab and to AA and NA.
My character was built on false love, false hope, false faith. I had nothing to offer , except a negative attitude.
In 1999, I feel in my heart God reach out and touched my heart in a way I never felt before. As i finally made the right choice to put the bottle down and come back to AA. A healthy choice. It took time for me to make a decision to let God fully live in my heart. To find that Love. In 2006 I made the choice to turn my will and my life over to God, as i understand him.
My character is a positive one today. I choose to be free for that bondage that kept me down for so many years. Making healthy decisions today.
Yes, I fall short some days, but God is always there waiting for me to see and make a better choice.
Like that little paragraph says, I get up and say I LOVE MY LIFE TODAY.. no matter what is going on. It is a choice I make everyday all the through the day. When I do this, I find the negative she speaks of stays out! It is again my choice to be positive and be loving, Like God intends for me to be or to be negative and leave God out.

What choice will you make today? Will you make that decision to let God in?

Have a Wonderful day unless you made other plans. ds 1-30-99
